With spring hopefully around the corner for us all, Morris Insurance Brokers wants to just remind everyone as to what overland water coverage is and how it may help you in the event of a claim.
What is Overland Water Coverage?
Overland is water damage caused by water entering your property due to Overflow of any body of fresh water such as lakes and rivers, Sudden accumulation or run-off of surface waters, including torrential rainfall or spring thaw. This coverage is not automatically included in your policy and would need to be added by endorsement.
Water is coming through my foundation, is this covered by Overland?
Generally Seepage is considered a maintenance problem, not "sudden and accidental" damage. It's excluded from home insurance coverage. When in doubt it is always best to contact us to review your coverage and to discuss if there can be any coverage available.
I have Sewer Back Up coverage on my policy, do I need this?
Sewer Back Up Coverage will protect you against water backing up into your home through a sewer line. Sewer back-up coverage is a common option for coverage with most insurance policies, however does not include overland water damage.
Can I buy Overland Water Coverage?
Every area is rated differently so we ask that you contact our office to see eligibility and if you qualify for the coverage.
If you have any questions please do contact our office and we will gladly review this and all coverages your would like to discuss.
